Meet Alex!

Hey! I’m Alex. Born and raised in northern New Jersey. I attended Rutgers University for my BA in Psychology and Criminal Justice (2014) as well as my Masters of Social Work (2016). During that time I also completed the Violence Against Women and Children (VAWA) certificate program.

I relocated to the DFW area in 2016 after graduation with my now husband and family. I worked initially in hospital social work on the ortho/trauma floor before pursuing clinical licensure (LCSW). I received my LCSW in 2021 while running Tarrant County’s Youth Offender Diversion Alternative (YODA) under the now retired Judge Jamie Cummings out of CCC5. I successfully ran that program successfully for 5 years (2017-2023) throughout COVID and having kids before leaving to pursue private practice.

I worked for various group practices across Dallas part-time, gaining experiencing while building Ellis County Counseling PLLC which I now run alongside supporting other new therapists through social media and business consultation.

I’m currently married with two young boys (and baby sister on the way!). We live in Ellis County with our boys and three dogs.

My Background

I was originally trained in working with teens and young adults on navigating life transitions, relationships, and family dynamics. I have experienced working within the legal system regarding issues of domestic violence, (co)parenting, and family relationships.

Since having kids, I’ve shifted my focus to work with other millennials who are struggling with their current phase of life, including but not limited to work issues, parenting, or relationship distress. I have experience with infertility and loss, pregnancy, and the postpartum period.

I use an individualized approach to help clients identify strengths, learn new ways of coping, improve communication, and resolve conflict effectively. I create a plan with my clients to not only implement, but maintain change.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

I consider myself to be direct, kind, and empathetic. I use humor in practice to make the experience enjoyable, especially when talking about topics that can be uncomfortable to share with a stranger. I focus on the therapeutic alliance by building rapport and creating an environment in which you feel safe and comfortable to share.
