Court Related & Court Mandated

At Ellis County Counseling, we provide professional counseling and support for individuals and families navigating legal matters, including civil and criminal proceedings, divorce and separation, custody and co-parenting concerns, and other family-related legal issues. Our clinicians provide therapeutic services within their professional scope while maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries and neutrality throughout the legal process.

Whether you are choosing counseling to help navigate a criminal matter, family court situation or have been ordered by the court to participate in counseling, Ellis County Counseling can help.

Voluntary Court-Related Services

You don't have to have a court order to seek support during a custody, divorce, separation, or co-parenting situation. We work with parents and families who are voluntarily seeking professional support to improve communication, reduce conflict, strengthen parenting skills, and create healthier co-parenting relationships.

These services are therapeutic in nature and are designed for individuals who are choosing to participate, rather than being required to do so by a court.

Court-Ordered & Court-Mandated Services

If a judge has ordered you to participate in counseling or co-parenting services, Ellis County Counseling offers structured services designed to address the requirements of the court order while maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries.

Court-ordered services may include co-parenting counseling, individual counseling, family counseling, parenting support, and other services within our clinicians' scope of practice.

Before beginning services, we review the applicable court order and discuss the purpose of treatment, expectations, fees, confidentiality, and communication with the court or other authorized parties.

Not sure which category applies to you? If you have a court order, please provide a copy when requesting services so we can determine whether our services are an appropriate fit for the requirements outlined in the order.

Some of our providers have experience working within the system you might be trying your best to navigate for the first time.

Our owner and primary therapist, Alex, interned in a women’s maximum security correctional facility in New Jersey during her graduate studies and then went on to run the first time offender program for domestic violence court out of Tarrant County for 5+ years.

Associate therapist Krystina worked as a teacher for 12+ years before getting her masters in social work. It was there that she interned for the advocacy center working with complex family dynamics and custody situations. She currently also works for an organization doing home study evaluations.
